Tennis stars John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Monica Seles and Daniela Hantuchova will be the headliners at next year’s Legends tournament in Camana Bay.
The event will return to Festival Green on Friday evening, Feb. 17, and will include men’s singles and mixed doubles.
McEnroe, who has won more than 25 Grand Slam titles, last played in Cayman in the Legends tournament in 2008.
Courier has also played in the Legends matches several times over the years.
Making appearances for the first time will be Seles and Hantuchova. They will join McEnroe and Courier for a mixed doubles match.
Seles has nearly 60 career titles, including nine Grand Slam singles titles.
Hantuchova has won seven WTA singles titles, as well as nine WTA doubles titles. She appeared as a wild card in the 2016 Wimbledon tournament.
Chris Duggan, vice president of community development for event organizer and sponsor Dart, said, “We are so pleased with the caliber of players that we have secured for Legends 2017 – between them they have secured over 40 Grand Slam titles and are either legends of the game or are currently playing on the tour.
“The event has really established itself to be one of the biggest and best-attended sporting events on the Cayman calendar, and I have no doubt that the 2017 event will be a sellout.”
In addition to the opportunity to watch some of tennis’s best-known players in action, guests will also get to party. The “Ultra Party” has previously been an invitation-only event, organizers say, but this year will be selling a limited number of tickets for $100 each. The party takes place immediately after the tennis matches, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the Camana Bay helipad, and will include player appearances, music, dancing and drinks and snacks.
Tickets go on sale at the Visitors Centre in Camana Bay from Friday, Nov. 25. General admission tickets are $100, VIP corporate packages are $2,100 for six seats, and standing VIP tickets are $250.
