Monica Seles delivers keynote address at Happiness House Charity event

Some local tennis fans got a chance to hear from and play against one of tennis’s greatest champions today.

Serbian tennis player and former world champion Monica Seles stopped by the Tennis Club of Rochester Tuesday.

After giving a keynote address, Seles hit the courts to play against some of the tennis fans in attendance.

During her keynote, she spoke to the crowd about growing up as a rising tennis star including leaving her family at a young age to come to the U.S. and train. “I really just believed in myself that I was on a path and if I just stayed with it and I worked hard, things would get better. Because I definitely was very homesick, being here without my parents for a year and a half was not one of the easiest periods of my life.”

Seles’ appearance today was to benefit Happiness House. It’s a non-profit agency that serves children and families in Ontario County.
